The Card: Quetzalcóatl
The card is a Bitoku card of the Meijo type (the kanji at the top of the card's left panel). The card's name is printed on the artwork as "Quetzalcóatl".
Icons on the Card
Read from the top of the card's left panel to the bottom:
- Footprints in a ring: the card's path marker. The base rulebook does not print this icon by name. Unverified reading: it marks the card as a step on the Bitoku Path, which matches the rule that Bitoku cards create the Bitoku Path on your player board.
- Sparkle with a black "1": a black number beside an icon means how many times that action is taken, and no number means once (Icons and Symbols, Bitoku base rulebook). The sparkle itself is not named in the base rulebook. Unverified reading: it is an action taken once, most likely gain 1 Movement Point (MP).
- Gold icon with a black "2": 2 VP. An orange VP icon is earned immediately (Icons and Symbols, Bitoku base rulebook), and the BGG description states two victory points. The VP is gained when your Player counter moves onto this card.
- Crystal icon (purple and pink crystals on a rock): the option to obtain a Crystal, per the BGG description. The card shows no cost symbol and no Crystal colour. The Crystal is taken from the Crystal Caves under the Crystal Caves rules of the base rulebook: pay its board cost (0, 1, or 2 Resources of any type) and place it only on an empty matching space of your player board.
How the Card Is Used
- This card is gained and moved onto like any other Bitoku card (see Bitoku Cards in the base rulebook). Spend 1 Movement Point to move your Player counter onto this card. That completes the card.
- On completing this card, you immediately receive its printed rewards: 2 VP, and the option to obtain a Crystal (see the Crystal Caves rules above). Taking the Crystal is optional.
- At end of game, the Bitoku Bow Before You scores the number of different types of Bitoku cards in your Bitoku Path. This card counts as the Meijo type.
Gaps and Notes
- The card's rarity number is not visible on the scan. The BGG description states that it is a unique spirit, with only one copy in the deck.
- The base rulebook lists one Meijo card in the Bitoku deck. The card, the BGG description, and the base rulebook do not say whether this promo is added to that Meijo card or replaces it. This transcription does not decide the question.
- The sparkle and footprints readings above are the transcriber's reading of icons the base rulebook does not name. They are not confirmed by the publisher.
