Object of the Game

The aim of this exciting dice game is to get back into your little house as quickly as possible after a walk in the forest. The wolf in the middle makes the way forward more difficult.

Setup

The first time the game is played, the stand feet must be clipped into the board from the underside before play begins. The little trees are then pushed into the stands on the top side of the board; they give the trees a secure hold. At the end of the game the trees are removed; the stands stay in the board.

The turntable is also inserted from the underside of the board into the opening provided for it. Now only the wolf needs to be placed on the turntable from above, and the exciting and fun game can begin.

The wolf is first turned so that its snout points at none of the houses.

Course of Play

Each player chooses a game piece and places it in front of the house of their choice.

The youngest player begins and rolls the die. According to the number rolled, the player moves their piece in the direction of the arrows. The coloured space above the house is also counted.

There are two paths: the outer, slower path, which is partly protected by trees, and the inner, faster path, which is not protected by trees. Both paths are connected with each other, so that a player can quickly get into safety behind a tree away from the wolf.

Moving backwards is not allowed.

The Wolf

If a player rolls the wolf's head, they may spin the wolf in the middle of the board with a swing.

The game board is divided into spaces. If the wolf's snout points at a space where other players stand unprotected, that player must move their game piece back 4 spaces on the outer path. No player can be moved back further than to their own house.

If the wolf's snout points exactly at the midline between two spaces, both spaces are affected. The unprotected game pieces on them must likewise move back 4 spaces on the outer path.

No player may enter the zone guarded by the wolf, unless they can hide behind a tree. If this is not possible, the throw is forfeited.

Throwing Out

Throwing out is permitted; however, not onto a space behind a tree.

Several game pieces may stand behind one tree and hide there. On unprotected spaces, however, no more than one piece may stand.

Note: the printed rulebook does not state where a piece that is thrown out is placed. The text is transcribed as printed.

End of the Game

The game ends when a player can bring their game piece directly back into their house with an exact throw after a round in the forest.

The winner may, in a further game, turn the wolf before the next round in order to change the position of the wolf.
