Components

• 13 geological tokens (8 with effects, 5 blank)

General Setup

In addition to the base setup, do the following:

1. Shuffle all the geological tokens. (Return 3 blank tokens to the box if you are not using the board for 4–5 players.)
2. Randomly place 1 geological token on each basin on the board, above the upper Dam.
3. Remove the blank geological tokens from the board. Those basins will have no special rules in the current game.
4. Remove any token showing the crossed-out mountain symbol if it was placed on a mountain basin (a basin marked with the mountain symbol).

Geological Tokens

Each geological token shows on its left the structure symbol (Base, Elevation, Conduit or Powerhouse). Beneath the structure symbol is the additional or replacement cost (the "cost"). On the right of the token is a special effect (the "effect") linked to that structure.

You must pay the cost even if you build the structure shown on the token outside of a Construction action (for example, thanks to Contracts, third-party orders, and so on). In that case, if the geological token requires Machinery (Excavators and/or Concrete Mixers), you must place the required Machinery in the open segment of your Construction Wheel without rotating it. For later construction, as usual, place the required Machinery in the open segment. If the geological token requires additional Engineers, place them on your Company board.

The cost and effects apply to both Dams, both Conduits and all Powerhouses on the basin.

If you play with the Automa, the Automa ignores the geological tokens.

Each geological token is described in detail below.

Conduit token (Excavators and Concrete Mixers)

• Cost: To build a Conduit on this basin, you must use as many pairs of Excavators and Concrete Mixers as the Conduit's production value (instead of the usual cost).
• Effect: The production value of Conduits on this basin is increased by 1. (For example, a Conduit with production value 3 counts as production value 4.)

Note: When building a Conduit outside a Construction action, consider its production value increased by 1. (For example, if an effect allows you to build a Conduit with production value 3, you may build it only if the value shown on the board is 2 or less.)

Note: If you use the ability of executive officer Jill McDowell when building a Conduit on a basin with this token, consider the Conduit's production value increased by 1. (For example, if you build a Conduit with production value 3, you will need 4 Concrete Mixers.)

Elevation token (Concrete Mixer)

• Cost: You must place 1 additional Concrete Mixer on the Construction Wheel to build an Elevation on this basin.
• Effect: Immediately after you build your Elevation on this basin, you receive 3 Credits from the general supply.

Elevation token (Credits)

• Cost: You must pay 3 additional Credits to build an Elevation on this basin.
• Effect: Immediately after you build your Elevation on this basin, you gain the Water Drop effect shown on the token for each Elevation on the Dam you just raised (that is, 1 Water Drop if the Dam has one Elevation, or 2 Water Drops if the Dam has two Elevations).

Translator's note: the printed token shows the Water Drop effect only as a drop symbol with a number (1 or 2), without words. It is rendered here as one Water Drop per Elevation, following the text beside the symbol.

Powerhouse token (2 Excavators)

• Cost: You must place 2 additional Excavators on the Construction Wheel to build a Powerhouse on this basin.
• Effect: When you produce energy with a Powerhouse on this basin, add 2 to the amount of energy produced.

Note: Remove this token during setup if it was placed on a mountain basin.

Powerhouse token (no cost)

• Cost: None.
• Effect: When you produce energy with a Powerhouse on this basin, add 4 to the amount of energy produced. Energy produced by a Powerhouse on this basin cannot be used to fulfil a Contract.

Base token (Credits)

• Cost: You must pay 3 additional Credits to build a Base on this basin.
• Effect: Each time a Water Drop stops in front of your Dam on this basin, you receive 1 Credit from the general supply.

Base token (Excavators)

• Cost: You must place 2 additional Excavators on the Construction Wheel to build a Base on this basin.
• Effect: Immediately after you build your Base on this basin, and in the Income phase at the start of each round, you may place a Water Drop in front of your Dam on this basin.

Conduit token (Engineers)

• Cost: You must place 2 additional Engineers to build a Conduit on this basin.
• Effect: Each Water Drop that moves along a Conduit on this basin gives 1 VP to the Conduit's owner.
