Ages 8+. 3-15 minutes. 2-6 players.
Getting Ready
Empty the food pieces from the tin into the lid, then place the open tin into the middle of the play area.
Assemble the grill by placing the two grill pieces side-by-side over the open tin. Place the tongs beside the finished grill.
Shuffle the Barbecubes cards and make a face-down deck beside the grill.
Aim of the Game
Take turns to use the tongs to add food to the grill. If any pieces fall through the grill into the tin, or off the grill entirely, you take a card. Get two cards, and you're eliminated!
Taking a Turn
1. Reveal a Card
Turn over the top card from the deck and place it face up. The card shows which food piece must be added to the grill, and how many bars of the grill it must rest on — food type and number of grill bars.
If the card shows the "switch hands" icon, hold the tongs in your non-dominant hand (if you are right-handed, you must use your left hand, and vice versa).
2. Stack the Grill
Use the tongs to lift the piece on the card out of the tin lid and place it onto the grill in any orientation, resting on the correct number of bars as shown on the card.
If you drop your piece outside the tin, that's OK! Use the tongs to pick them up again, and have another go.
You might have to nudge pieces already on the grill to make space on the grill — this is allowed, but be careful not let any pieces fall!
If you knock any existing pieces off the grill, or drop your piece into the tin, take the card you revealed and keep it. If you ever take a second card, you are eliminated!
At the end of your turn pass the tongs to the next player clockwise.
How to Play
The player who most recently went to a barbeque goes first. Play then continues clockwise.
On your turn, reveal a card from the deck and then stack the grill (see Taking a Turn).
At the end of your turn, give the tongs to the next player clockwise.
Winning the Game
The final player remaining in the game after everyone else has been eliminated wins the game, and is named "King of the Grill". If the cards run out and there are still two or more players in the game, all remaining players share the victory.
