Setup

Place the game board on the table and set the pointer on the start line so that it shows the direction in which the players will move.

Shuffle the 4 animal cards and place them face down next to the game board.

Each player chooses a colour and takes the matching game pieces. The number of pieces used depends on the number of players:

  • 2 players: Player A takes 6 red pieces and Player B takes 6 orange pieces.
  • 3 players: each player takes 4 pieces of any colour: red, orange or green.
  • 4 players: each player takes 3 pieces of any colour: red, green or white.

At the start of the game there are 12 pieces on the board, whatever the number of players. Players take turns placing one of their pieces at a time on the square sectors along the start line of the board. Only one piece may occupy a sector.

Then the players turn over the top card so that it is face up. The card shows an animal. Players may not move their pieces onto sectors showing that animal, nor move their pieces across such sectors. For example, if the card on top shows a bird, players may not place their pieces on sectors showing a bird, nor move their pieces across such sectors. Players must stop in front of a sector showing a bird.

How to Play

The youngest player starts the game. Play then passes to the next player clockwise.

All moves must be made either horizontally or vertically. Diagonal moves are not allowed. Pieces may move backward.

You are not required to always move your piece onto the sector directly in front of the forbidden one. You may stop on any of the earlier sectors.

Pieces may not move over other pieces, including your own. At any moment, only one piece may occupy a sector.

When a player has one of their pieces reach the opposite end of the board, that player must choose a new card showing an animal they like. The new card is placed on top of the stack. From this moment, all players must avoid all sectors showing that animal. However, players may now move and place their pieces on sectors showing the animal from the previous card.

Each time any player reaches the finish line on the game board, the animal card must be changed.

Attention! After a new card has been chosen, some pieces may be on squares showing the same animal as the newly chosen card. Do not worry; this is how it should be. The cards stay where they are, and from the following moves onward, players must act according to the rules.

Winner

The winner is the player whose pieces are all the first to reach the finish line on the opposite side of the game board.
