Two-Player Rules

Components

For a two-player game you will need:

  • 14 Life pieces
  • 14 Death pieces

Object of the Game

One player represents Life, the other represents Death. Each has its own special goal. Both also share a common goal. The first player to reach a goal wins the round.

  • Life's goal: SPREAD AND PENETRATE. To achieve this, there must be at least one Life piece in every sector of the game board and in every ring.
  • Death's goal: CUT OFF LIFE. To achieve this, completely fill one sector or one ring with Death pieces.
  • Common goal: USE THE POTENTIAL. To achieve this, place all 14 pieces on the game board.

Rules of the Game

At the start of each game, align the sectors of the game board. One player takes all the Life pieces and the other takes all the Death pieces.

The player playing Life begins the game. They must place one of their pieces in any free slot on the game board. After that, the players take turns.

On his or her turn, each player may perform one of two actions:

  1. Place one of their pieces in any free slot, but next to a Life piece.
  2. Rotate any one of the rings 45° clockwise.

Special Actions

Each player may, at some point, gain the opportunity to perform a special action.

  • Life's special action: NEW BIRTH. If, after a Life piece has been placed on the board, one of the sectors has become completely filled, you may place one more Life piece on the board (following the general rules).
  • Death's special action: WITHERING. If, after a Death piece has been placed on the board, one of the Life pieces has become completely surrounded by Death pieces, it is replaced by a Death piece. (The Life piece indicated by the arrow is replaced by a Death piece.)

Winning the Game

Each match consists of two rounds. Each player must play one round as Life and one round as Death. The results of the two rounds determine the winner of the match.

  • Variant 1: One player won both rounds. That player is the absolute winner.
  • Variant 2: Each player won only one round. Compare how many pieces each of them needed to achieve victory. The player who used fewer pieces is the winner. If the number of pieces is also equal, the match ends in a draw.

Aggressive Variant for Two Players

The game is played under the normal rules, except that on his or her turn, Life or Death may perform only one of three actions:

  • Place a piece in any free slot.
  • Rotate any ring 45° clockwise.
  • Rotate the ring on which the player has more pieces than the opponent 90° clockwise.

Special actions are not used.

Three-Player Rules

Components

For a three-player game you will need:

  • 12 Life pieces
  • 12 Death pieces
  • 12 Mummy pieces

Object of the Game

The players represent Life, Death and the Mummies. All players have the same goals, which lead to victory:

  • Occupy one slot in every sector and on every ring with your pieces, or
  • Occupy all the slots in one of the sectors with your pieces.

It may happen that every slot on the board is filled, but no player has reached a winning goal. In that case, each player may make one last action (a ring rotation) and try to win. If after this no player has achieved victory, the game ends in a draw.

Rules of the Game

Life begins the game, followed by Death, and then the Mummies. After that, the turns pass in a circle.

On his or her turn, each player may perform one of two actions:

  • Place a piece in any free slot.
  • Rotate any ring 45° clockwise.

Special actions are not used.
