Game Idea
Three cards are lined up on the table. Each one shows a maze of bendy circuits, with different colored racing cars at both ends of each section. The color die indicates which car is in the lead at the start. But the leading position changes from one card to the next. Whoever tracks down the color of the winning car first, snatches the corresponding car from the center of the table and gets a card as a reward. The aim of the game is to be the first to collect three cards.
Preparation of the Game
Place the six racing cars in the center of the table. Make sure there is some space between the cars and that they are within easy reach of all players.
Before starting to play, agree on a deck of cards and get it ready.
- The yellow deck is designed for beginners.
- The red deck is for racing experts who already know the game quite well.
Return the other deck to the game box and get the color die ready.
How to Play
The player who is best at imitating the sound of an engine revving up, starts. If you cannot agree the oldest player starts. He turns over the top three cards from the pile and lines them up next to the pile so that everybody can see them clearly. Then he rolls the die.
Quickly! All the players play simultaneously, by tracking down the winning car!
How you track down the winning car:
- The color on the die shows which car makes the quickest start.
- Look at the route of this car on the first card (next to the pile of cards). It will lead to another car which now takes the lead.
- The color of this car is the color you start with on the second card, and so on.
- Following the route on the third card will lead you to the winning car. The player who has tracked down the winning car snatches the racing car of that color from the center of the table.
- If a player thinks the correct car has not yet been taken, he or she continues tracking it down. Each player, however, can only snatch one car in each round.
Example
The die shows the color Red which means the following circuit will be tracked down:
- First card: red leads to white
- Second card: white leads to green
- Third card: green leads to purple
So the purple car wins the race!
Checking the Result
As soon as all the players have snatched a car or think the right car might have already been taken, they check to see which is the winning car.
Has a player got the correct car?
- Yes? Straight home! As a reward you take one of the three cards and put it in front of you. The remaining two cards are put at the bottom of the pile.
- No? Thwarted! The three uncovered cards are placed at the bottom of the pile.
Then return the racing cars to the center and turn over three more cards from the top of the pile. The next player in a clockwise direction rolls the die and a new round starts.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as a player has collected three cards thus winning the game.
Hint
Of course you can line up a longer circuit. For example, try to track down the winning cars from a line of five cards.
