Vedah, Sage of Swords

Enlightened Hero

Cost: 7 runes (shown in the top-right triangle) Honor: 4 (shown in the bottom-left star)

Card text (as printed on the card):

  • Reveal the top card of the center deck. Draw it or defeat it.

Flavour text (printed in italics, not a rule): "I contemplated for a hundred years a single blade of grass. I made it my entire world, my only adversary. Then, I cut it down."

Clarification (from the BGG item description; not printed on the card)

In the event that playing Vedah, Sage of Swords results in the player drawing an Event from the Portal Deck, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Banish the Event. The Event does not enter play.
  2. Draw another card from the Portal Deck. If the player draws another Event, repeat Step 1.

Errata (from the BGG item description; not printed on the card)

When Dhartha's Retreat is in play, the card "drawn" from the Portal Deck is actually considered an "acquired" card. As such, the effect provided by Dhartha's Retreat is cancelled. This marks the only instance where the term "draw" is synonymous with "acquire." A second printing of this card will address this fact.

Notes on the Card

  • The card's text is the only rules text printed on it. The Clarification and Errata above come from the BGG item description and are not on the card scan; they are included so the promo's behaviour is complete, and their origin is as stated in the source note.
  • The card's cost is shown in runes. Its honor value is shown in the star in the bottom-left corner.
  • The card's ability refers to the center deck, to drawing and defeating cards, and to the Portal Deck. Those terms are used as defined in the Ascension: Deckbuilding Game base rules; this file does not restate them.
  • The card carries a small "PROMO" mark in the bottom-right corner. No rules meaning is given to it.
