Game Overview

Players become talented scientists who have entered an academy researching hyper-optics and conduct research on hyper-optic lenses. The goal is to advance research and create unique lenses or convert materials, earning more research achievements than the other players. The player who earns the most victory points wins.

Player count: 2–4. Playing time: 1–2 hours. Recommended age: 14+.

Characters

Each player chooses one of the characters below. Each character has a research type.

  • Akamine Hiyori (赤嶺ひより): Lens Polishing Start type (レンズ研磨起動タイプ). A prodigy who can hear the voices of light, as she herself acknowledges. Her mind is full of nothing but lens creation.
  • Aono Haruhi (青野 春陽): Self-Lens Start type (自レンズ起動タイプ). A late bloomer who piles up effort steadily with a straightforward nature. Careful in all things and averse to failure. A serious, diligent talent who devotes everything to the development of hyper-optics.
  • Tohdoh Akira (橙堂 アキラ): Persuasion Utilization type (説得活用タイプ). Sensitive and skilled at getting by in the world. Her poise is elegant and unrivalled. She is a multi-faceted intellectual who uses both her front and back faces.
  • Midorikawa Rinna (翠川 燐名): Sediment Collection type (淀み収集タイプ). Only an insatiable curiosity about the unknown moves her. A mad scientist whose pure love of knowledge has warped her.
  • Tasogare Hizumi (黄昏 灯純): Material Collection type (資材収集タイプ). An idol who is also a talented scientist, a multi-talent. She makes the most of her cuteness to delight people, but her real goal is a large amount of money.
  • Sirakami Yu (白神 幽): Growth Tree Specialization type (成長ツリー特化タイプ). A lonely genius girl held under management by an evil organization. Ordered to turn her latest research into weapons for the organization, she has infiltrated the school.

Components

Development Cards (47)

  • Development cards are transparent cards that serve as the materials for making lenses and as the results of doing so. Stack two or more of them on top of a Base card.
  • Development card breakdown (47 total):
    • Light (光): 8
    • Rainbow (虹): 7
    • Sediment (淀み): 8
    • Creativity (創造): 5
    • Growth (成長): 5
    • Lobby (ロビー): 5
    • VP: 9
  • Normal cards and VP cards are distinguished by their frame: the normal cards have a yellow-type frame and the VP cards have a pink frame marked "2VP".

Base Cards (15)

  • Base cards are the cards needed to generate lenses. They are the foundation on which Development cards are stacked.

Draw Pile Cards (2)

  • Place one of these cover cards on top of the Development card draw pile, face-down, to hide the top card. There are two of them: one for the normal cards and one for the VP cards.

Research Diary (1 sheet)

  • A sheet recording each day's research. It is used to arrange the Base cards and Development cards.

Lab Guide (1 sheet)

  • A board summarizing the facilities that can be activated, such as the school's "Assignment" (課題), "Polishing" (研磨), "Concentrated Light" (集光), "Rotation" (根回し) and "Spirit" (気合). "Polishing", "Concentrated Light", "Rotation" and "Spirit" are collectively called the "Labs" (ラボ).

Score Table (1)

  • A board used to record players' Victory Points (VP).

Character Boards (6)

  • One board per character, representing that character.

Student Notebooks (6)

  • Cards summarizing each character's traits and the flow of the main phases. Use them as a reference when choosing characters and playing.

Character Tokens (6, one per colour)

  • Place these on the score table to track each character's VP.
  • When a character's VP exceeds 100, flip the character token to its "100" back side and continue counting from 1 on the score table.

Colour Tokens (6 colours, 12 each)

  • Tokens with different meanings depending on where they are placed, such as Lobby, Growth and Assignment.
  • When generated in a Lobby slot, the token is treated as a Lobby. The front side represents an unactivated Lobby; the back side (red) represents an activated Lobby.

Lobby

  • A Lobby is an assistant robot that supports the player's research. Players use Lobbies to carry out various actions during the game.

Action Markers (4)

  • Markers for managing Action Points (行動力). Place them on the character board.

Creativity Markers (4)

  • Markers for managing Creativity (創造力). Place them on the character board.

Start Player Marker

  • A marker showing the start player for the round.

Material Tokens

  • Light tokens (25): shining material. Used as materials.
  • Rainbow tokens (20): rainbow-coloured material. Used as materials.
  • Sediment tokens (20): material that gives off a dark light. Used as materials.

Icon Reference

The icons used on Development cards and elsewhere mean:

  • Light (光)
  • Rainbow (虹)
  • Sediment (淀み)
  • VP
  • Creativity (創造力)
  • Action Points (行動力)
  • Growth (成長)
  • Lobby (ロビー)

Setup

Play Area

Arrange the following in the centre of the table, as in Figure A:

  1. Research Diary
  2. Lab Guide
  3. Score Table
  4. The Light, Rainbow and Sediment material tokens. Keep these together in a convenient place as the material supply.

Development Card Setup

Arrange the Development cards on the Research Diary as follows:

  1. Development cards (normal): Shuffle well, then place a draw pile card on top so that the card underneath is hidden. Then arrange the 8 cards taken from the draw pile, and the remaining draw pile, as in Figure A.
  2. Development cards (VP): Shuffle well, then place a draw pile card on top so that the card underneath is hidden. Then arrange the 2 cards taken from the draw pile, and the remaining draw pile, as in Figure A.
  3. Base cards: Arrange them from the top, in order of increasing required COST, as in Figure A.

Notes on gaining materials:

  • When gaining Light, Rainbow or Sediment, if the material supply does not have enough tokens, the shortfall cannot be gained. Gain only as many as are available.
  • A player may hold at most 12 Light, Rainbow and Sediment materials in total. If a gain would take a player over 12, choose which of the materials to gain from those they are due to receive, and return the rest to the supply.
    • Example: Holding 10 materials, a player gains 3 Light and 2 Rainbow. They gain 1 Light and 1 Rainbow, and return the remaining 2 Light and 1 Rainbow to the supply.

Distribution to Each Player

Give each player the following set and arrange it as in Figure B:

  1. 1 character board
  2. 12 colour tokens matching the character board
  3. 1 Creativity marker
  4. 1 Action marker

Then:

  • Place the Action marker on the Action value of 2 on the character board, and the Creativity marker on the Creativity value of 0.
  • Of the colour tokens, 9 belong to the character board: place 4 face-up in the Lobby slot, 1 on the starting position marked "S" on the Growth Tree, and 4 in the stock. Place the remaining 3 on their respective Assignment positions on the shared board.
  • Place your character token on VP 0 of the score table.
  • Take 2 each of the Light, Rainbow and Sediment tokens from the material supply.

Players may choose which character to play freely. Drawing character boards face-down at random is also fine. A character's Growth Tree strongly influences play style. Put the boards and tokens of unused characters back in the box.

Deciding the Start Player

  • Decide the start player of the first round freely, for example by rock-paper-scissors.
  • Place the Start Player marker in front of the start player.

Overview of Play

The game covers the school life of the talented students over four years, and is played over four rounds. Each round proceeds in the order Supply Phase, Main Phase, then End Phase. Each phase takes turns clockwise starting from the start player.

Step 1: Supply Phase

  • Gain 7 Action Points and 1 Creativity. Any Action Points or Creativity left over from the previous round are added to these. Since the Action Points start at 2, the Action Points in round 1 become 9.
  • Using 1 colour token from the stock, do one of the following:
    • Generate 1 unactivated Lobby in the Lobby slot.
    • Perform Growth once. (For Growth, see "7. Growth Tree and Execution of Growth" on page 22.)
  • If there are no colour tokens in the stock, this action cannot be performed.

Step 2: Main Phase

Each player must choose one of the following six actions and carry it out:

  • Activate (起動): Use a Lobby to activate a lens or a Lab once.
  • Persuade (説得): Swap your Lobby with another player's Lobby, and activate with it.
  • Re-activate (再起動): Swap your activated Lobby with an unactivated Lobby, and activate again.
  • Collect (収集): Gain 1 Development card.
  • Intention (意思): Use the ability on your character board.
  • End (終了): End your actions for this round. You do not take part in play from then on.

Starting with the player who holds the Start Player marker, all players repeat the Main Phase actions clockwise.

  • At the beginning of the start player's turn, place the Start Player marker on the "Rotation" (根回し) of the Lab.
  • When all players have chosen "End", the Main Phase ends and the End Phase begins.

Step 3: End Phase

  • Return all activated (face-down) Lobbies to unactivated (face-up) state.
  • Return all Lobbies placed on the Labs to their owners' Lobby slots.
  • Lobbies placed on lenses are not returned after being made unactivated; they remain on the lens.
  • If any Growth Tree effects apply, process them in order, starting from the start player of that round.

After the End Phase:

  • In rounds 1 to 3, proceed to the next round and begin with the Supply Phase.
  • In round 4, after the End Phase, the players graduate and proceed to final scoring.

Player Actions

5-1 Activation

There are two kinds of activation: Lab activation (ラボの起動), which uses the school's facilities, and Lens activation (レンズの起動), which uses lenses you have generated.

5-1-1 Lab Activation

Place 1 unactivated Lobby on a facility and turn it to its activated side to obtain the effect.

  • Example (Focus Light, 集光): Place an unactivated Lobby, turn it to the activated side, and pay materials or costs as needed. Then gain the material shown in the result on the right side of the facility.
  • An unactivated Lobby may also be used if it is placed on a lens.

Effects of Lab activation:

  1. Polishing (研磨): Spend 1 Action Point to generate 1 lens.
  2. Concentrated Light (集光): Spend 1 Creativity to gain 1 Light material.
  3. Rotation (根回し): Gain 1 Light material and the Start Player marker. If a player has already ended, take the Start Player marker from that player.
  4. Spirit (気合): Without spending any cost, gain 1 Action Point and 1 Sediment material.

Limits on Lab activation:

  • Rotation can be activated by only one player once per round. It can only be activated when no Lobby has been placed on it yet.
  • The other Labs have no such limit. Even when other Lobbies are already placed on them, you can activate them by moving an unactivated Lobby onto them.

5-1-2 Generating a Lens by Activating Polishing

Activating Polishing lets you generate a new lens.

1) Designing the lens

Select 2 or more Development cards from your hand and stack them freely to define the content of the lens.

  • A Development card used as-is places its material (left side, MATERIAL value) under the arrow.
  • A Development card rotated 180 degrees places its result (right side, RESULT value) under the arrow.
  • A material on the left is consumed when the lens is activated. A result on the right is gained when the lens is activated.
  • When stacking, make sure that both the material and the result each have one or more icons lined up.
  • Development cards whose materials are in the same position cannot be stacked on each other.
  • VP Development cards can only be placed on the result (right) side.

2) Calculating the activation cost of the lens

Subtract the total of the material values (top left) from the total of the result values (top right) of the Development cards used. The result is the activation cost of the lens. If the activation cost would be negative, the activation cost is 0.

  • Example: Results 5 + 3 = 8; materials 5 + 2 = 7. 8 − 7 = the activation cost is 1.

3) Selecting a Base card

Choose a Base card whose COST is equal to or greater than the lens's activation cost, and stack all of the Development cards you designed on top of it. If there is no Base card that meets this requirement, the lens cannot be generated with that design.

4) Completing the lens

  • Gain 1 VP for each Development card used, and move your character token on the score table accordingly.
  • Place the generated lens in front of you as your own invention. You can no longer make any changes to it.

5) Immediate activation of the lens

If you have an unactivated Lobby, you may move it onto the generated lens and activate it immediately. For activation, see "5-1-3 Lens Activation" on page 15.

Lens generation example (using 3 Development cards to generate a hyper-optic lens):

  1. First card: Use a Development card that consumes Light 2.
  2. Second card: Use a Development card that gains 4 VP.
  3. Third card: Use a Development card whose material is Rainbow 1. Flip that card over, and it becomes a card that gains Rainbow 1.
  4. Stacking 2 cards: By stacking 2 cards, you can design a lens that consumes Light 2 and gains 4 VP. The result value is 2 and the material value is 4, so the calculation is 2 − 4 = −2. Since there is room in the result value, stack one more card.
  5. Stacking 3 cards: By stacking 3 cards, you can design a lens that consumes Light 2 and gains 4 VP and Rainbow 1. The calculation is (2 + 3) − 4 = 1. If you Polish this, you can generate a lens with cost 1.
  6. Generation complete! Place the lens on a Base card whose COST matches, and the lens is generated.

5-1-3 Lens Activation

Activating a lens

You can activate one lens on which one of your unactivated Lobbies is placed. By consuming the materials that lens requires, you obtain the results of the lens.

  • If no Lobby is placed on the lens, you may first move one of your unactivated Lobbies from the Lobby slot, or from another lens, onto it, and then activate it.
  • Example: Place an unactivated Lobby on the lens, turning it to its activated (face-down) side. Pay the materials or costs as needed. Then gain the material shown in the result on the right side of the Development card.

Notes on lens activation:

  • An unactivated Lobby that is placed on a lens may also be used.
  • If another player's Lobby is already on the lens, you must activate it by Persuade (説得). If your own activated Lobby is on the lens, you must activate it by Re-activate (再起動).
  • Even for a lens generated by another player, if no Lobby is placed on it, you may activate it using your own Lobby.
  • When you activate a lens generated by another player, the player who generated that lens gains 2 VP.
    • Likewise, when you activate another player's lens by Persuade or Re-activate, the player who generated that lens gains +2 VP.

Gaining and spending Growth

  • Each time you activate a lens whose result has a Growth placed on it, perform Growth once. (See "7. Growth Tree and Execution of Growth" on page 22.) However, if there are no colour tokens in the stock, you cannot Grow.
  • Each time you activate a lens whose material has a Growth placed on it, return 1 colour token of your choice from the Growth Tree to the stock. The ability of that square is lost.
  • When Growth is gained through a Growth effect, process it in the same way.

Growth Tree (example from the printed page):

  • Starting square (S): Intention (意思): Creativity −1, Light +1.
  • Whenever you complete a lens: +4 VP.
  • Whenever you grow: Rainbow +1.
  • Whenever you activate a lens that consumes Light: +3 VP.
  • Once you can no longer grow, at game end: +10 VP. (In the printed diagram, an arrow partly covers the text of this square; see section 7 for the full rule.)

The diagram also shows: when you gain Growth, use a colour token from the stock to Grow once; when you spend Growth, return 1 colour token from the Growth Tree to the stock.

Gaining and spending Lobbies

  • When you activate a lens with a Lobby placed on its result, you may generate 1 colour token from the stock as a Lobby in the activated state. If there are no colour tokens in the stock, you cannot generate a Lobby.
  • When you activate a lens with a Lobby placed on its material, return 1 of your Lobbies to the stock, of your choice. However, you cannot choose the Lobby placed on the lens you are activating.
  • When Lobbies are gained or spent through Growth effects, process them in the same way.

The diagram shows: when you spend a Lobby, return your Lobby that is placed on the Lobby slot, a Lab or a lens to the stock. When you gain a Lobby, you can generate it from the stock in the activated state.

5-2 Persuade (説得)

Spend 2 Action Points to borrow a lens on which another player's Lobby is placed, through persuasion.

  1. Move 1 of your unactivated Lobbies onto the lens on which another player's Lobby is placed.
  2. The other player's Lobby that was previously placed there moves back to its owner's Lobby slot. Its activated or unactivated state stays as it was.
  3. Then process the lens activation in the same way as in 5-1-3. Your Lobby remains on the lens after it is activated.

5-3 Re-activate (再起動)

Spend 3 Action Points to activate a lens on which your own activated Lobby is placed.

  1. Move 1 of your unactivated Lobbies onto the lens on which your activated Lobby is placed.
  2. Your activated Lobby moves to the Lobby slot, remaining in the activated state.
  3. Then process the lens activation in the same way as in 5-1-3.

5-4 Collect (収集)

Spend 2 Action Points to acquire a Development card.

  • Choose 1 of the face-up Development cards laid out on the Research Diary, and place it in front of you (in your hand).
  • Refill from the draw pile so that there are 8 normal Development cards and 2 VP Development cards.
  • If the draw pile runs out, no further refilling takes place.

5-5 Intention (意思)

You may use any ability that has a colour token placed on it on the Growth Tree and that is marked 【意思】(Intention).

  • Pay the Creativity shown to the left of 【意思】 as the cost, then carry out the specified ability.
  • If the ability has a cost, you may use the same ability as many times as you like in one round.
  • Some abilities have no cost and activate automatically. Those cannot be used through Intention.

Example: Growth Tree square S shows 【意思】 (Creativity) −1: perform Collect once. Pay 1 Creativity to perform Collect once.

5-6 End (終了)

  • Finish all of your actions for the current round's Main Phase.
  • A player who has chosen "End" is skipped for the rest of this round's turns.
  • If no one has performed Rotation, the first player to End in this round gains the Start Player marker from Rotation.
  • When all players have chosen "End", the Main Phase ends.

6. Completing Tasks (課題の達成)

During your turn, you may declare that you have completed a task at any time you meet its conditions.

The printed example shows the three tasks on the Lab Guide's Assignment (課題, TASK) board:

  1. Hold 7 or more Light.
  2. Hold 5 or more Rainbow.
  3. Generate 3 or more lenses.

Rules for tasks:

  • If you meet a task's conditions on another player's turn, there is no effect. When your own turn comes around, if you still meet the conditions, the task counts as completed.
  • When you complete a task, immediately receive the colour token placed on that task. Use that token to do one of the following:
    • Generate 1 unactivated Lobby in the Lobby slot.
    • Perform Growth once. (See "7. Growth Tree and Execution of Growth" on page 22.)
  • The completion of a task is not one of the Main Phase actions. You may act immediately using the Lobby or ability you received.

The printed diagram shows: when you complete a task, take the colour token in the same row as the completed task, and either Grow once or generate 1 unactivated Lobby.

7. Growth Tree and Execution of Growth

Geniuses also grow through experience. The Growth Tree shown on each character board holds that character's unique abilities.

  • One Growth places 1 colour token from the stock onto a square of the tree, blooming that square's ability.
  • A colour token can only be placed on a square that is connected, by an arrow, to a square that already holds a colour token. A colour token cannot be placed on a square that is not connected to a square holding one.
  • If there are no colour tokens in the stock, you cannot Grow.
  • Abilities are used either by choosing Intention (意思) during your Main Phase and paying the Creativity cost, or they activate automatically when their conditions are met.

Example Growth Tree (as printed):

  • Starting square S: 【意思】 (Creativity) −1: Light +1.
  • Square: Cannot grow any further. At game end: +10 VP.
  • Square: Each time you complete a lens: +4 VP.
  • Square: Each time you Grow: Rainbow +1.
  • Square: Each time you activate a lens that consumes Light: +3 VP.

8. End of the Game and Victory

When the End Phase of round 4 is finished, the game ends.

  • Characters with abilities that can act at game end take their actions on their own turns.
  • Then, in addition to the VP currently shown on the score table, calculate the following VP:
    • Each Sediment material held at game end is worth −2 VP.
    • Players whose characters have Growth Tree abilities that trigger at game end add the VP from those effects.

The player with the most VP becomes the first graduate of the academy (初代首席卒業者) and wins the game.

Tie-breakers:

  1. The player who generated more lenses is ranked higher.
  2. If still tied, the player who used more Development cards in their lenses in total is ranked higher.
  3. If still tied, compare the total of the result values (変換結果値の総合計).
  4. If all of these are the same, the tied players share first place.

Q&A

Q: What should I do first? A: In the first 1 or 2 actions of round 1, Collect is recommended. For the third action, consider collecting more, or Polish a lens and activate it immediately. For your first lens, think carefully about the combination so that its Action Point cost is 0.

Q: Which Development cards should I take? A: Which Development cards are advantageous to collect depends on the character. For recommended approaches for each character, see the individual guidance printed on the character's Student Notebook.

Q: In the Main Phase, can I pass? A: You must take some action. If you cannot do anything, or do not want to, choose "End" and skip your remaining turns in that round.

Q: How should I place the Development cards in my hand? A: There is no fixed rule, so it is fine to place them nearby or stack them in your hand. The rules do not require you to reveal your hand, so whether you answer other players' questions about what you hold is up to you.

Q: How many Development cards can I hold in my hand? A: Any number.

Q: May players trade Development cards or materials with each other? A: Players may not trade or give Development cards or materials to one another.

Q: When I would hold 12 or more materials, may I discard any materials I want, including the ones I already had? A: Select from the newly gained materials only as many as fit within 12, gain those, and return the excess to the material supply.

Q: When generating a lens, I want to make a lens with activation cost 0, but there is no Base card with COST 0. What should I do? A: Even if you generate a lens with activation cost 0, use a Base card whose remaining COST is 1 or more. In that case, when you activate the lens you must still spend the Action Points equal to the activation cost shown on the Base card.

Q: When I make a lens by Polishing, may I activate a different lens instead of activating the lens I just made immediately? A: The immediate activation is included in the Polishing action, so you cannot activate a different lens instead.

Q: When I make a lens by Polishing, must I activate it immediately? A: You may generate a lens without activating it, for example when you have no Lobby or not enough Action Points. However, if you do not activate it immediately, other players may activate it without your permission, so it is recommended that you activate it right after Polishing.

Q: When I activate a lens using a Growth Tree ability of my character, are the materials and the lens activation cost required? A: Yes, they are required. However, for Midorikawa's ability, activation at game end consumes materials but requires no Action Points at all.

Q: If I use a Lobby as a material of a lens, may the Lobby I send back to the stock be in the activated state? A: Yes, it is fine even if it is activated.

Q: If there are no colour tokens in the stock, can I activate a lens whose result would generate a Lobby? A: Yes, you can activate it. In that case, do not generate the Lobby; gain only the results you are able to gain.

Q: When I Persuade, does ownership of the lens transfer? A: No. Even after Persuade, the lens stays in the hand of the player who polished it, and ownership does not change.

Q: When I activate, in the next round, a Lobby I placed on another player's lens by Persuade, is it Persuade again? A: In that case it is not Persuade; you may use the lens by ordinary activation.

Q: When I perform Intention, can I immediately use Action Points to do something else? A: Intention is also one action in the Main Phase, so after performing Intention your turn ends. Wait until your next turn.

Q: When I hold 12 materials and perform Intention, must I not gain Sediment? A: When you hold 12 materials and perform Intention, do not gain Sediment; gain only the +1 Action Point. The only exception is when Tasogare Hizumi's ability makes the material holding limit unlimited.

Q: After I complete a task, if I reduce my materials and then increase them again, have I completed the same task again? A: No. Each task can be completed only once per player.

Q: If a player's VP exceeds 100 on the score table, is the excess counted? A: Flip the character token to its 100 side, place it at the value of the current score minus 100, and continue the game.

Q: If there are few colour tokens in the stock, can I obtain all the abilities of the Growth Tree? A: Colour tokens gained through completing tasks can also be used for Growth. In addition, if you set "Growth" as the material of a lens, then when you activate that lens you may remove a colour token already placed on the Growth Tree and return it to the stock. You can use that returned token to Grow again, and so obtain even further abilities.

Q: Do squares on the Growth Tree that have no ability still need colour tokens? A: Yes. Those squares must have colour tokens placed on them in order to obtain the abilities beyond them.

Q: After I place a colour token on the Growth Tree square "Cannot grow any further. At game end: +10 VP," can I use Growth as a material of a lens, or use a result of Growth, to gain its effect? A: You may use Growth as a material to remove the colour token from the character board's Growth Tree, but you can never place it there again. If you activate a lens with Growth in its result, gain only the results other than Growth.

Q: Do Hiyori's abilities "+3 VP each time you activate a lens that consumes Light" and "+4 VP each time you activate a lens that consumes Rainbow" trigger when I use another player's lens by Persuade? A: Yes, they trigger when you use another player's lens. Also, if you consume multiple Light (or Rainbow) in one activation, the VP you gain is still only for one activation.

Q: Does Aono's ability "+2 VP each time I activate my own lens" take effect when I Re-activate? A: Yes, it takes effect on Re-activate too, and you gain +2 VP.

Q: If Aono's ability "Cannot activate other players' lenses" is in effect, can Aono's lens be Persuaded when another player uses it? A: You can Persuade your own lenses. "Other players' lenses" means only lenses made by other players.

Q: Does Aono's ability "+2 VP each time I activate a lens that can gain Light or Rainbow" trigger when I use another player's lens by Persuade? A: Yes, it triggers when you use another player's lens by Persuade.

Q: Aono has three abilities "+2 VP each time I activate my own lens." Do they trigger at the same time, and if I gain all three, how much VP do I gain? A: They trigger simultaneously, so if you gain all three you gain +6 VP. Furthermore, the effect "the VP gained by activating a lens becomes 1.5 times" applies to all three.

Q: Does Akira's ability "+2 VP each time I activate another player's lens" include Persuade? A: Yes. It applies in all cases: Persuade, activation and Re-activation.

Q: Does Midorikawa's ability "+1 VP for each Sediment gained or spent by activating a lens" take effect with the Lab Spirit? A: VP cannot be gained by this ability through the Lab Spirit. Sediment obtained through the Intention ability "【意思】 Creativity 1: Sediment +1 to +3 (any), +2 VP for each Sediment gained" also does not give this effect.

Q: Tasogare's ability at the end of each round gives "+1 VP for each Light in hand," and also "for Sediment, Light and Rainbow, you may give one to each player who has fewer of that material than you." Which takes effect first? A: When effects whose conditions occur at the same time are present, the player may choose which effect to carry out first. In this case, you may carry out "+1 VP for each Light in hand" first, and then the effect "you may give one to a player with fewer of that material than you."

Q: For Tasogare's ability "give one to a player with fewer of that material," may I give to any number of players, and for each material, may I give one of each material? A: You may give to any of those players. Handle every player for each type of material. The comparison of holdings uses your own count at the time the ability is used, compared with each player's count.

Q: Does Sirakami's ability "+3 VP each time my lens is activated" trigger when other players use Sirakami's lenses? A: Yes, it triggers.

Q: Sirakami's ability "+2 VP each time I activate my own lens that has no same kind of material among the materials consumed and the results gained." If the materials differ from the results, can the materials be the same as each other, or the results be the same as each other? A: No. All of the materials set on the lens must be different kinds.

Q: Sirakami's ability, when acquired, takes 1 Light and 1 Rainbow from every other player, and each of them returns 1 Lobby to the stock. If I hold 12 materials, must I stop taking? And must Sirakami's own Lobby also be returned to the stock? A: When taking, return to the material supply any materials you cannot hold, and you may choose which materials to return. Sirakami's own Lobbies are not affected.
