When a card gives a New Action, can I take it in addition to the standard action it replaces?
The rulebook states this directly.

No. A New Action such as Assassinate (Battle) replaces the named standard action: each time you'd take that action by spending a pip or a non-Outraged resource, you choose the new one or the standard one, never both.
