Object of the Game

Win "animal" cards. To do so, players move the animal tokens on the board to form the lines of animals shown on those cards.

Setup

  1. Shuffle the cards and deal 1 to each player. Each card shows 3 animals that the player must line up.
  2. Place the remaining cards face down in the center of the table as a draw pile.
  3. Place the 12 animal tokens at random on the board, on the grey squares as shown in the diagram.

How to Play

The youngest player starts, and play proceeds clockwise.

On your turn, you may move one token:

  • to an adjacent empty square, or
  • by "jumping" it over one or more tokens.

Notes on movement:

  • Tokens move horizontally or vertically, never diagonally.
  • A token may jump as long as there is no empty square between its starting square and the first square it jumps over. There must also be an empty square directly beyond the animal or animals it jumps over, so that it can land there after the jump.
  • A token may make several jumps in a row.

When a player has completed a line matching one of their cards, they show that card to the other players and keep it as a scored point. Then they draw a new card, and play continues with the next player.

Animals may be lined up in any order, but they must be placed on the same line (horizontal, vertical or diagonal), with no other animals between them and no empty square between them.

The sheet's example diagrams are captioned "Jeton de départ" (starting token) and "Jeton à l'arrivée" (arrival token) for a jump movement, "CARTE" (card) with the 3 animals to line up, and "GAGNÉ" (won) and "PERDU" (lost) for a completed line.

If, at the end of a player's movement, that player has completed a line matching a card belonging to another player, that other player does not wait for their turn. They immediately show that card to the other players and win it. They then draw a new card. Play then continues normally.

End of the Game

The game ends when all the cards have been won. The winner is the player who has won the most cards.
