Overview
Animal Mind is a set-collection game of produce. All players share the same goal: to collect as many points as possible. The sets are divided by the type of produce, for example fur, milk, eggs and pets. Each produce card has a value from 0 to 2.
Setup
The produce cards are shuffled and made into a central draw pile, which has 3 Scoring cards mixed into it. Each player receives 3 Decision cards. One side of each is "Accept" and the other side is "Reject". The player starts the game with 2 Decision cards on the "Accept" side and 1 on the "Reject" side.
Playing the Game
On a player's turn, the player takes the top produce card from the central pile without letting anyone see it. The player then offers the card to the other player by stating either the card's value (0-2) or the type of produce, and the other player decides. The player may not show the card to the other player. If the revealed card shows that the player broke the promise of the exchange (lied), the player must return 1 point to the central pile.
The receiver, the player who is offered the produce card, may accept or reject the offer.
- If the receiver chooses to accept, the receiver flips one Decision card from its Accept side to the other side. The receiver then takes that produce card to keep in their own collection.
- If the receiver chooses to reject, the receiver flips one Decision card from its Reject side to the other side. The player who made the offer must then keep that produce card in their own collection.
If the receiver has already flipped all their Decision cards, the receiver has no other choice but to accept or reject in order accordingly (the receiver still flips the Decision cards as before).
A player may collect a maximum of only 3 types of produce. If a 4th type of produce is received, the player must discard the type of produce that they hold the most of, in order to collect the new type.
The game continues and is paused when any player draws a Scoring card. Scoring is then carried out. The game ends after the 3rd scoring from a Scoring card.
Scoring
Count the number of produce cards in each set and multiply by the value of the card most recently added to that set. For example, if you have collected 4 milk and the latest card in this set has value 2, this set scores 4 x 2 = 8 points. Likewise, if you have collected 4 milk but the latest card has value 0, this set scores 0 points.
The player with the most points wins. In case of a tie, the player with the most produce cards wins. If the players are still tied, they win together.
