Do I advance a progress track for every module I gain?
The rulebook says each gained module advances the corresponding track.

Yes — one space on the matching track for each module you gain, immediately, however you gain it, so two modules from a field advance you twice. Trade-ins such as Changeling Pods or Exchange do not count as gaining a module.
