Components
- 10 new mine tiles
- 5 rune stone tiles
- 1 new start card and 1 new end card
Before the First Game
Cut out the 10 new mine tiles, the 5 rune stone tiles and the 2 task cards (front and back of each) along the dashed lines. Fold them along the solid lines and glue the front and back sides together. If you like, you can also glue card stock between the front and back sides. Now you are ready to play!
Setup
Set up the game according to the Andor Junior base rules, with the following exceptions:
Leave the base game's start card, end card and mine tiles in the box and replace them with the corresponding material from the mini-expansion.
Shuffle the rune stone tiles face down and place them next to the game board so that the side showing the stone wrapped in paper is always face up.
Note: Task cards 1, 4 and 8 of the base game mention the wolf cubs. In the mini-expansion the wolf cubs play no role. To avoid thematic breaks, you can simply leave these three task cards out when you play "Die Steine des Schicksals".
Game Play
The game runs as usual. That means you must first complete the bridge keeper's tasks before you can enter the dwarf mine. There, you must, as always, roll a torch or hand in a torch token each time you want to reveal a mine tile. The following new rules now apply.
When the revealed mine tile shows ...
... a key?
Great! Place the mine tile in your loot bag. From now on you can use it to unlock a chest.
... a chest?
You can only open the chest if you have the correct key in your loot bag. That means the colours of the key and the chest must match. If you do not have it, the chest stays locked. It is also too heavy to take with you. Show the mine tile to the other players and remember which colour the chest is. Then place the mine tile face down back on its space.
If you do have the matching key in your loot bag, you must open the chest immediately and see what is inside! Return the key and the mine tile with the chest to the box. Then reveal any one rune stone tile. Carry out the effect of that rune stone and then return the rune stone tile to the box.
There are the following possibilities:
The Dragon Stone
You open the chest and an eerie, pulsing light escapes from it. It is an ancient power that drives the dragon to further misfortune!
Roll the red die and move the dragon towards Rietburg by 1, 2 or 3 cloud spaces, as rolled.
The Gor Stone
From far away, Gors from all parts of Andor feel the call of the stone ...
Take 3 Gors from the supply. If there are not enough in the supply, take correspondingly fewer. Place them on the game board according to the usual rules.
The Stone of Uncertainty
You find a strange stone. Nobody knows exactly what this stone does! It is now up to you to find out ...
Roll the red die once and carry out the following effect depending on the number rolled:
- 1: All Gors move 1 space towards Rietburg according to the usual rules.
- 2: Move the dragon 2 cloud spaces towards Rietburg.
- 3: Each hero who is in the mines may place one sun disc back on their hero board.
The Winter Stone
An unnatural icy cold fills the dwarf mine and makes the search impossible on this day.
All heroes who are in the dwarf mine immediately remove all sun discs from their hero boards and end this day. Only at the end of the following night do they receive their sun discs back, as usual.
The Sun Stone
A pleasant warmth fills the dwarf mine and the darkness recedes.
Congratulations! You have succeeded. Now turn the end card over to its green side and read what happens.
New Start Card
Front: Start card. The adventure begins as soon as you turn this card over!
Back:
Andor is in great danger! Reka, the herb witch, senses an unnatural storm brewing in the distance. It will lay waste to everything and bring misfortune over the land. But there is hope: deep in the dwarf mine lies the mighty Sun Stone, hidden. It has the power to break the dark spell and ward off the storm. Find it, but beware! Misfortune-bringing rune stones are also hidden in the mine.
Before you can start your search in the mine, there is still a lot to do. Mart, the old bridge keeper, will not release the bridge until you have completed his tasks.
First complete the tasks of the bridge keeper. Then head into the mines and find the Sun Stone!
New End Card
Front:
You now know what your tasks are. So go on, the fate of Andor lies in your hands.
Turn this card over immediately when the dragon has reached Rietburg or you have found the Sun Stone!
Back, green side:
Success! You have found the Sun Stone!
The wind whips icy into your faces as you leave the mines. Already the first pitch-black clouds are drawing over Andor and plunging the land into darkness. Just in time, you bring the Sun Stone to Reka, who uses its help to cast a mighty spell. At once the clouds disperse and the sun shines on your faces. Andor is saved!
Back, orange side:
Oh no! The dragon has reached Rietburg!
In despair, the residents call for help. So there is no choice. Immediately you abandon your search and hurry back to the castle to free it from the dragon's claws.
The weather, however, is already turning, and the wind becomes icy. Better that you set off again into the mine as soon as possible to find the Sun Stone ...
New Mine Tiles
The 10 new mine tiles are printed as cut-out pairs. Each tile has a key or a chest on one hex and a torch on the adjoining hex. There are five keys and five chests, each in one of five colours: purple, red, green, yellow and blue. Each key matches the chest of the same colour.
New Rune Stone Tiles
The 5 rune stone tiles show the five stones on their front sides, each on a rune-stone background, with the stone's back showing it wrapped in paper:
- The Dragon Stone: a dark stone with a rune symbol.
- The Gor Stone: a dark stone with three slanted strokes.
- The Stone of Uncertainty: a dark, oval stone with a hexagonal symbol.
- The Winter Stone: a pale, icy white stone.
- The Sun Stone: a glowing golden stone.
