When can I take free actions, and how many?

Any number, but each specific free action once per Era, and the rulebook puts them before your worker placement or pass. Designers said ordering rarely matters, except for a few abilities such as Haulani's and the Exocrawler, which must come first. Once you have passed you cannot take more, though you may use free actions on the turn you pass.
