Play instead of your Debunk Theory action. On one theory, exchange your seal with one of your unused seals. If yours is the only seal, you may (instead or in addition) exchange the alchemical with an unused alchemical.

Rules Explanation

When it is your turn to debunk a theory, you may play this card. Instead of debunking a theory, you use your action to alter a theory that has your seal on it.

If no one else has a seal on that theory, you have three options:

  1. Remove the alchemical token and replace it with an alchemical token not currently assigned to any theory.
  2. Or change the type of seal you have on the theory. (For example, you can replace an unstarred seal with a gold-starred seal, if you still have one available.)
  3. Or do both of the above.

If someone else already has a seal on that theory, all you can do is change your seal. This is still helpful, because it allows you to hedge your bet if you discover you were wrong or to strengthen your assertion if you discover you guessed right.

You cannot use this to change the alchemical token on a theory that also has another player's seal. You cannot use this on a theory on which you have no seal. You cannot use this to move alchemical tokens or seals from one theory to another. This card can only change your seal; it cannot remove your seal.

If you somehow get two of these cards, you cannot use both of them on the same Debunk Theory action. (But you can use them on two different Debunk Theory actions in the same round.)
