Overview and Goal
AI is a drafting game with a reserve and immediate scoring all structured around building a tableau.
A game plays over two phases, each with 7 turns using draft mechanism. Simultaneously, each turn all players take the following actions, in order:
- Choose 1 card from your hand and add it to your reserve.
- Pass your hand of remaining cards to the player to your left.
- Choose 1 card from those in your reserve and place it in front of you.
- Reveal your chosen card and place it in your tableau.
- Check the effect of the card and immediately gain VPs.
All players play 7 cards in Phase 1 and 7 cards in Phase 2. At the end of Phase 2, each player's tableau is complete.
At the end of each Phase, players score additional points by fulfilling a common objective. At the end of Phase 2, players also score points based on the conditions of their AI card.
At the end of the second phase, the player with the most VP wins the game.
What is Drafting?
Drafting is a game mechanism where all players simultaneously choose a card from their hand, then pass their unchosen cards to an adjacent player.
Reserve and immediate scoring?
Your reserve represents the area where you store the cards chosen while drafting. After drafting, you will choose a card from your reserve to play into your tableau later on the same turn.
Drafting with a reserve lets you better prepare your card combinations and chains. Since you immediately score each card played, the reserve lets you optimize your choices and play the best Development card, in the best place, at the best time.
Tableau?
The Tableau is the play area in front of each player. Your tableau consists of a grid of 15 cards: 3 rows of 5 cards, with your AI card in the center. You will add a new card to your tableau each turn. The 3 player aids help you visualize the 3 rows of your tableau and show you the card icons.
Setup
1. Score track
Assemble the score track and place it in the center of the table.
2. Victory Point markers
Place the Victory Point marker of each player on the 0 space of the score track.
3. Objective cards
Randomly choose 2 Objective cards: one for Phase 1 and one for Phase 2. (For your first games, use the Starter cards (S) for Phase 1 and 2). Place them face up on the corresponding spaces on the score track. Return the remaining Objective cards to the box.
4. Setup your tableau
Randomly give each player 1 AI card. Take the corresponding standee and 3 Player aid cards.
- Stack the 3 Player Aids in front of you in a column, so that each is next to a row of your tableau.
- Choose one side of your AI card and place it in the middle row, leaving space for two cards to the left.
- Place the standee on your AI card.
5. Deck
Take all the Phase 1 Development cards and make a face-down deck near the score track. Set the Phase 2 cards aside for now.
2 Phases Overview
For 3 to 6 players. (See Solo and 2-Player Mode below).
A. Setup
1. Create your reserve
Using the current Phase deck, deal 4 Development cards to each player. Then, each player chooses 2 cards to add to their reserve. Shuffle the remaining 2 cards back into the current Phase deck.
Take your 2 reserved cards and place the Divider card to their right. The Divider card lets you differentiate the cards in your reserve from those in your hand.
2. Deal cards
Using the current Phase deck, deal 7 Development cards to each player. Players add the cards in their hand to the right of the Divider.
B. First drafting turn overview
Simultaneously, all players take the following actions, in order:
- Choose 1 card from your hand and add it to your reserve.
- Pass your hand of remaining cards to the player to your left (Phase 1) or the player to your right (Phase 2).
- Choose 1 card from those in your reserve and place it in front of you, face down.
- Simultaneously reveal your chosen card and place it in your tableau, respecting the following two conditions:
- The card you place must be orthogonally adjacent to an existing card in your tableau.
- Your tableau has a maximum of 3 rows and 5 columns, with your AI card in the center.
- Check the effect of the card and, if applicable, immediately gain VPs by moving your marker on the score track. Scoring is simultaneous, except for black Hacking Development cards (see the Icons section).
C. Next turns
Repeat these actions in the same way for each subsequent turn, using the hand of cards that the player passed to you.
Important:
- You may never exchange cards in your reserve with those in your hand.
- Any card placed in the tableau can no longer be removed or moved, except under the effect of certain cards.
- Cards in your reserve will either be placed in your tableau or discarded at the end of the phase.
D. Last turn
On the 7th turn of the draft of the current Phase you will only receive a single card. Place it in your reserve, like in previous turns, then choose 1 card from your reserve to add to your tableau. Then, discard the cards remaining from your reserve.
At the end of Phase 1, your tableau will have 7 Development cards and your AI card. At the end of Phase 2, 14 Development cards and your AI card.
E. End of Phase scoring
Check whether you fulfilled the conditions on the current Phase Objective card and gain VP, if any.
At the end of Phase 1, proceed to Phase 2. Repeat in the same way actions A, B, C, D and E. At the end of Phase 2, continue to AI card scoring (F).
F. AI card scoring
After scoring Phase 2 Objective card, check whether you fulfilled the effect of your AI card and gain VP, if any.
Tip: Choose one player to move everyone's score markers on the track. Tell them the number of VP you gained and your player color.
End of the Game
The game ends after finishing the second phase.
The player with the most VP wins the game. In case of tie, share the victory.
End of Phase 1 Example (4-Players)
In each round, players simultaneously reveal their card, place it in their tableau and immediately score points. In this example, we're on the last turn of Phase 1. We'll score:
- points for the last Development card added in the tableau.
- points for the Objective card Phase 1 (Omega 3): in this row, gain 0/1/3/7/12 VP if you have 1/2/3/4/5 cards with different numbers.
Pierrick plays the black card (103), he can copy a yellow card from one of his two neighbors. He decides to copy Renaud's yellow card (082). He applies the effect of the chosen yellow card and takes into account its location in his own tableau. He scores 3 VP for each combination of 2 connectors, the sum of which is exactly 5. Here, he checks the condition on each of the rows in his tableau. He fulfills the condition 2 times, he scores 6 VP.
Pierrick has 3 cards with different numbers on the middle and bottom rows. As the Phase 1 objective card's location zone shows only 1 row, he can only count one row. He therefore scores 4 VP.
Renaud plays the red card (73), he checks the condition all around the red card, he has 2 yellow cards and 1 green card, he scores 7 VP.
Renaud has 5 cards with different numbers in the middle row. He scores 12 VP.
Players discard cards from their reserve. They turn the Phase 1 Objective card face-down; it will no longer be counted. Each player receives 4 Phase 2 Development cards and choose 2 cards to add to their reserve. Next, they receive 7 new Phase 2 Development cards and proceed with the first turn of drafting, this time turning counter-clockwise.
End of the Game Example (4-Players)
Finally last turn of Phase 2. Check whether you fulfilled the conditions on:
- points for the last Development card added in the tableau.
- points for the Objective card Phase 2 (Omega 4): in your tableau, 4 VP per diamond with 4 connections of different colors.
- points for AI card of each player.
Pierrick has played the green card (69) (in your tableau, 3 VP per card of the color you have the least of). He has 1 single purple card and 1 single black card. He scores 3 VP (1x3). Only one color is chosen.
In a complete tableau, there are a maximum of 8 diamonds. His tableau contains 3 diamonds of 4 different colors. Pierrick gets 15 extra VP (3x5).
Finally, the AI (01) card gives 7 points per figure respecting shape and color. The tableau is composed of: a square (2x2 cards) of red and blue cards - the cards belong to only one combination, so Pierrick can't count the second square; and a L of yellow and black cards. Mirrored is permitted (see the Icons section). He gets 14 VP (2x7).
Renaud has played the green card (87) (1 VP per group of 2 horizontal connectors (top) of different colors). His tableau is complete, with 12 figures made up of 2 connectors. All the groups are made up of 2 connections of different colors. He scores 12 VP (12x1).
In a complete tableau, there are a maximum of 8 diamonds. Only 5 diamonds are composed of 4 different colors. Renaud gets 25 extra VP (5x5).
Finally, the AI card (08) gives 3 points for each column made up of a set of 3 cards with consecutive numbers. With only 2 columns meeting this condition, Renaud gets 6 VP (2x3).
2-Player Mode
With 2 players, the setup and the drafting rules are changed.
Setup
Phase 1: reveal 2 columns of 3 cards to form a grid.
Phase 2: add 2 columns of 3 cards to the right of the 2 columns previously revealed.
During the game, when a player plays a Hacking card (black cards), he can use their opponent's tableau or this grid. This grid represents a neutral neighbor for each player.
The rest of the setup is the same to that for 3-6 players.
Drafting overview
Complete the following actions in order. You and your opponent play simultaneously.
- Choose 1 card from your hand and place it in your reserve, face down.
- Then choose a Development card to discard from your hand.
- Draw a card from the corresponding deck (Phase 1 or Phase 2) and add it to your hand without showing it.
- Choose 1 card from your reserve and place it in your tableau, check the effect and immediately mark points, if any.
- Finally, pass your hand to your opponent.
All other steps are identical to those for the 3-6 player configuration.
Solo Mode
Setup
- Place 3 Divider cards in a row, and 3 Divider cards in a column. So you form a 3x3 grid. The order of the colors is not important.
- Complete the grid with 9 Development cards Phase 1. It is called the draft grid.
- Choose your AI card and setup your tableau (see the Setup section).
- Then place your standee on the Divider card of the chosen AI's color.
- Randomly choose 2 Objective cards (Phase 1 and Phase 2). Place them face-up on the corresponding spaces on the score track. Return the remaining objective cards to the box.
- Place your victory point marker on the space 0 of the score track.
- Draw 4 Development cards (Phase 1) and choose 2 cards to add to your reserve.
- Form a deck of 18 Development cards (Phase 1) and place it next to the draft grid. The deck forms the Phase 1 timer stack.
- Place the remaining cards on the corresponding space on the score track.
Phase 1
Choose and add 7 Development cards (Phase 1) to your tableau, following the steps below:
- Choose one of the 3 cards in the row/column where your standee is present, and tilt the remaining 2 cards in the row/column slightly.
- Add the chosen card to your reserve.
- Move your standee on the Divider card which has the same color than the card you've just added to your reserve.
- Place one of the cards from your reserve in your tableau, respecting the adjacency and format conditions (see the 2 Phases Overview section).
- Check the effect of the card, and if applicable, immediately gain VP's by moving your marker on the score track.
- Discard the 2 tilted cards and complete the grid with 3 new cards from the deck, placed next to the draft grid.
Repeat these steps until you have placed 7 Development cards. After you finished all 7 turns, discard the cards remaining in your reserve, check whether you fulfilled the conditions on the Phase 1 Objective card and, gain VP, if any.
At the end of round 1, your tableau will have 7 Development cards (Phase 1) and your AI card.
Phase 2
Build a new draft grid with 9 Development cards (Phase 2). Your standee starts on the Divider card where it finished at the end of Phase 1. Draw 4 Development cards (Phase 2) and choose 2 cards to add to your reserve.
Play the 7 turns in the same way as Phase 1. At the end of turn 7, when your tableau is complete, check whether you fulfilled the conditions on the Phase 2 Objective card and, gain VP, if any. Finally, check whether you fulfilled the effect of your AI card and gain VP, if any.
Note: The effect of cards 105 and 106 cannot be applied in solo mode, so gain immediately 4 VP when you placed the card in your tableau.

Icons
Golden rule: A card and a connector can only count toward a single combination during scoring.
Set - A set is a certain number of cards that are not required to be adjacent, symbolized by splayed cards.
Group - A group is a certain number of cards that follow specific placement rules (adjacent, diagonal, ...), symbolized by adjacent cards.
Mirrored - You can mirror the shape of a group.
Same color/number - The color/number you have the most of gives you VP. In case of tie, only one color/number gives you VP.
Connections - When checking a connection condition, only the connections (triangles) on the top- or the right-half of the card count towards fulfilling the condition.
Connections and colors - Both colors shown must be present, but may be in any order.
Diamonds - Both colors shown must be present, but may be in any order. Score VP even if the diamond is not complete.
Mixed colors - Cards with two colors let you choose between the two. Example: you can choose between 1 purple card or 1 red card to fulfill the condition.
Placement requirement icons:
- Check the effect in all your tableau (including AI card).
- Check the effect in each row of your tableau.
- Check the effect in each column of your tableau.
- Check the effect for cards adjacent to the played card (maximum 8).
- Check the effect in the row where you placed the card.
- Check the effect in the column where you placed the card.
Black cards
Important: Apply the effects of black cards after another card's effects.
- Reserve.
- In an adjacent player's tableau: copy a card in an adjacent player's tableau.
- Card played this turn.
- Ongoing effect.
- Check the conditions in an adjacent player's tableau, corresponding to the placement of your black card (shown as "my tableau" / "adjacent player's tableau").
- Copy a card in an adjacent player's tableau and apply its effect in your tableau. Apply the card effect according to its placement in the chosen player's tableau (see the End of Phase 1 Example and End of the Game Example sections). AI cards cannot be copied.

Black Cards
Apply the effects of black cards after another card's effects. (Cards 105 and 106 are always counted last, the other black cards in the order of their identification number.)
Copying cards
When copying an effect, copy the VPs, condition, and placement requirements. Compare the conditions of the chosen card in your opponent's tableau with your own tableau, as if your played card took on the effects of the chosen card, and gain the corresponding VP. AI cards can not be copied.
- 099 / 100 Copy the effect of any blue card in an adjacent player's tableau.
- 101 / 102 Copy the effect of any green card in an adjacent player's tableau.
- 103 / 104 Copy the effect of any yellow card in an adjacent player's tableau.
Copying points
- 105 / 106 Gain the same number of VP as an adjacent player gains this turn. Both adjacent players must announce their VP as they gain them; you gain VP equal to whoever gains the most this turn.
- 107 In an adjacent player's tableau, 2 VP per card numbered 5.
- 108 2 VP per card numbered 1.
- 109 2 VP per card numbered 2.
- 110 2 VP per card numbered 4.
- 111 / 112 In the corresponding row of an adjacent player's tableau (meaning the same row where you place this card in your tableau), 2 VP per card of different colors.
- 113 / 114 3 VP per card of the color they have the most of.
Special cards
- 115 / 116 In your tableau, -2 VP, then exchange 1 played card with 1 card in your reserve. Neither the AI card nor cards 115 and 116 can be involved in the permutation. The card returned to the reserve cannot be placed in the tableau on the same turn. Check the conditions of the new card put into play and score the VPs, if any.
- 117 / 118 Ongoing effect: 2 VP / 3 VP, then draw 1 card from the corresponding deck of the current phase and add it to your reserve. At the start of Phase 2, keep 3 cards instead of 2 when creating your reserve.
- 119 In your tableau, you may exchange a card with an empty space. You cannot exchange your AI card. After exchanging, you must still respect all placement requirements (adjacent to another card). Do not gain additional VP from exchanged cards. Score 2 VP.
- 120 Same effect as number 119. Score 3 VP.
AI Cards Details
- AI-1 At the end of the game, in your tableau, 7 VP per group in the corresponding colors and shape. In a single tableau, you can make all 3 shapes. You may mirror the shapes. You may also make the same shape multiple times and gain 7 VP each time.
- AI-2 At the end of the game, choose a card in your reserve and place it adjacent to a card in your tableau. Check its effect and gain the corresponding VP.
- AI-3 At the end of the game, in your tableau, 3 VP per diamond with at least 1 yellow connection, 1 black connection, and 1 connection numbered 3 (8 possible diamonds). A connection can combine 2 conditions, for example it can be yellow with the number 3.
- AI-4 At the end of the game, in your tableau, multiply the color you have the least of by the color you have the most of, and gain the corresponding VP.
- AI-5 During the game, exchange 2 cards. You may exchange a card with an empty space. You cannot exchange your AI card. After exchanging, you must still respect all placement requirements (adjacent to another card). Do not gain additional VP from exchanged cards. Flip over your AI token; you can only trigger this effect once per game. At the end of the game, 5 VP.
- AI-6 Each phase, you may draw 2 cards and add them to your reserve. Then discard any 2 cards from your hand. Flip over your AI token; you can only trigger this effect once per phase. At the start of phase 2, return your AI token to its active side.
- AI-7 At the end of the game, adjacent to the played card, 4 VP per set of 2 red and purple cards (8 possible cards).
- AI-8 Ongoing effect: you may place Development cards diagonally adjacent to already-played cards. At the end of the game, 5 VP.
- AI-9 At the end of the game, in your tableau, 7 VP per set of 6 cards of different colors (2 possible sets).
- AI-10 Ongoing effect: Each time you play a Development card, you may decide whether your AI card will act as a green 4 or a black 2. Choose again when scoring the objective at the end of each phase. At the end of the game, 4 VP.
- AI-11 At the end of the game, in each column, 3 VP per set of 3 cards with ascending numbers. The cards can be played in any order. For example, if the top card is 3, the middle card is 1, and the bottom card is 2: the values of these 3 cards are ascending numbers, so it is a valid set.
- AI-12 At the end of the game, in each row, 5 VP per row where the 2 cards on each end have the same number.
