Rules
The rules are the same as the original game, with the exceptions presented below.
The map was designed for 3 and 4 players.
-
At setup all cities received two cubes except for The Azores and Madeira which receive 3 cubes each.
-
Each player can only make one connection to Lisbon per turn, be it by land or by sea. The Sea Links between Porto and Lisbon and between Sines and Lisbon cost $6 each and count as 1 link when moving goods and for end-of-game scoring.
-
The Sea Links from Madeira to Sagres, and from the Azores to Lisbon may be "built" by more than one player for a cost of $6. Each player that pays the cost places a track marker on the link. When the link is used to move a good, a player may choose which player (from among those who have built the connection) earns the income for the link.
-
The Azores and Madeira each receive a random cube, drawn from the bag during the goods growth phase of each turn. Cities #5 and #6 do not exist and no cubes are deployed on the goods growth chart; however, if the corresponding New Cities are in play and a 5 or 6 is rolled on the dice, then the New Cities receive goods normally.
-
Play one less turn than the usual.
