Austria

Austria is a map for 2 players.

Components

  • Austria Track tile (Town tile with 5 connections)

Setup

During setup, place 4 Goods cubes in Vienna, 3 Goods cubes in Graz, and 2 Goods cubes in every other City on the map. Place 1 Goods cube on each of the New City tiles, A-H.

Each player starts with $16 instead of $10.

Use the Turn Order Track on the game board. It displays which player is the first in turn order each turn. Randomly determine a player to be Player A.

  • Player A is first on turns 1, 3, 6, 8
  • Player B is first on turns 2, 4, 5, 7

Issue Shares

This expansion does not use shares and the Issue Shares phase is skipped. Money is only gained in the Income phase.

Turn Order

The Turn Order action is not used.

Urbanization

Only Foreign Markets (hexes with a dashed border) may be Urbanized. Towns may not be Urbanized.

Build Track

The Build Track phase works are normal with the following changes:

  • May only build Completed Links
  • Place/Replace Track: $4
  • Place/Replace Town: $4
  • The Austria Track tile (Town with 5 connections) may be placed in Wels, Leoben, Wiener Neustadt or St Pölten for $4
  • Mountains and heavy red hex-sides are impassable
  • There is a Complete Link between Salzburg and a Foreign Market that may be built as 1 track build of the Build Track phase for $4
  • There are Complete Links between Innsbruck and two different Foreign Markets that may be built.

Building the $4 Link counts as 1 track build of the Build Track phase.

Building the $12 Link counts as 3 track builds of the Build Track phase and 3 Victory Points for track segments at end of game scoring.

Move Goods

There are 3 rounds of Moving Goods instead of 2. Goods cubes may not move through Foreign Markets, but they may be moved to and/or from a Foreign Market.

Goods Growth

Roll for Goods Growth as normal. Cities in Austria (with the exception of Vienna) receive cubes from both light and dark sides of the Goods display.

At the end of each Goods Growth phase, Vienna receives 2 random Goods cubes directly from the bag.

Final Scoring

After final scoring, each player receives 1 VP per $20 cash that they retain at the end of the game.
