How does the Soul Sword card work: the equip clause and removing the top card?

The blue dividing line is a misprint and should be removed. After attacking you may remove the top card of your deck to keep the sword equipped; if you do not, that card goes back on top. The equip clause lets you slot the sword when you play it from hand, for example after a reshuffle.
