Objective
Be the first team to reach the finish space on the game board by guessing the terms that are performed by your teammates.
Game Material
The Game Board
The game board shows a track of 32 spaces, with a start space and a finish space. The individual spaces have the following meanings:
6 grey spaces for insults: A card with insults must be drawn. The symbol on the game board indicates the required mode of presentation. There are 2 spaces each for "Pantomime", "Explaining" and "Drawing". The term presented may only be guessed by the presenter's own team.
6 grey spaces with four figures for insults to be presented openly, and a question mark: A card with insults must be drawn. All teams may take part in guessing the term presented. The question mark is a reminder for the player to choose a mode of presentation before drawing the card.
14 red spaces with no additional symbol for erotic terms: An erotic card must be drawn. The term presented may only be guessed by the presenter's own team.
6 red spaces with four figures for erotic terms to be presented openly: An erotic card must be drawn. All teams may take part in guessing the term presented.
The Cards
Erotic cards: Each red card shows one erotic term, marked with a symbol. The symbol indicates the required mode of presentation.
Insult cards: Each grey card shows three insults, each marked with a symbol. The symbol indicates the required mode of presentation.
The Timer
The timer runs for about 60 seconds. The red button is turned to "60". A short press of the button starts the timer. A second press can stop the timer early at any time.
Setup
- 2, 3 or 4 teams of at least 2 players each may take part.
- The game board is placed in the middle of the table and the timer is placed next to it.
- Each team chooses a game piece and places it on the start space.
- The cards are sorted by the colour of their backs. Each stack is well shuffled and placed face down next to the game board.
- For drawing tasks, paper and pencil are placed ready.
- The teams agree whether a look into "The Little Lexicon of Insults and Erotic Terms" is allowed if a term is unclear. If it is, we recommend that, especially for the mode "Explaining", the descriptive words used in the definition are not used in the team's own explanation. The other teams check that this rule is observed.
- The teams choose one member as the first presenter. In the following rounds, the players within each team take turns as presenter in clockwise order.
Course of Play
Play proceeds clockwise. As long as the game piece is on the start space, the player whose turn it is to present may freely choose between an erotic card and an insult card. They take a card from the corresponding stack so that the other players cannot read the front of the card. They study the term for about 10 seconds. If the term is not to be presented "openly", they then show the card to the other teams and place it in front of them.
They set the timer to 60, start it with a short press of the red button, and try to convey the term to their team as quickly as possible in the required mode of presentation. In the case of an insult card, they may choose the mode of presentation. Later in the game, the mode of presentation for insult cards is given by the symbol on the game board.
The following rules apply to the different modes of presentation:
Drawing
The term must be drawn with a pencil. The presenter may neither speak nor gesticulate. However, they may indicate to their teammates by nodding that they have guessed part of the term correctly. The drawing may contain neither letters nor numbers.
Explaining
The term must be described, i.e. the presenter describes the term in words. They may not use the word itself, nor any part of it, nor any derived forms.
Pantomime
The term must be acted out without words. The presenter may neither speak, nor make any sounds, nor drag objects in the room or point at them. They may, however, point at their own body parts.
Warning
If a player disregards these rules, their team may not move forward, and the next team comes up.
If the team guesses the term within the first 30 seconds, it may move its game piece forward 2 spaces.
Tip: Stop the timer with a press of the red button as soon as the correct term has been named!
If the team guesses the term within the second 30 seconds, the game piece moves forward only 1 space.
If the term is not guessed, the game piece stays where it is.
Hitting
If a team has guessed a term and moves forward with its game piece, it can happen that it lands on a space already occupied by the game piece of another team. In this case, the game piece occupying the space must move back one space.
Open Round
If a game piece stands on a space with the symbol for "Open Round", then at the next presentation all teams may guess, not only the presenter's team. In this case, the presenter may not show the drawn card to anyone.
On erotic cards, the mode of presentation is predetermined. For insult cards, the presenter chooses the mode of presentation freely before drawing the card from the stack. The question mark on the game board is meant to remind the player of this.
If a team guesses the term, the other teams and the presenter's team move as follows. If an opposing team guesses the term, it may move its game piece forward 2 spaces. The presenter's team moves its game piece forward 1 space. If the presenter's team guesses the term, it moves its game piece forward 3 spaces.
Then the next team is up. The player takes a card, and so on.
For each task, a time limit of one minute applies, which is set by the timer. The other players check this. They also monitor compliance with the rules.
Before the game starts, the players should also agree how exactly the terms must be guessed, for example whether "Sturkopf" is enough for "Sturschädl". If the term to be presented is not in German, the presenter may announce this.
End of the Game
The team that first moves its game piece onto the finish space, or beyond it, wins the game.
Rules for 3 Players
- Each player chooses a game piece and places it on the start space.
- When playing with three people, the player tries to present the given terms to their two fellow players.
- For each term guessed, both the presenter and the player who guessed the term may move their game pieces forward 1 space.
- If neither of the two fellow players guesses the term presented, the next player comes up.
- For the presentations of the individual terms, the same rules apply as in the game for two or more teams.
Play Tips
- The terms usually consist of 2 words. As a whole term they are often hard to present. However, if you present the two parts separately, the task is usually much easier to solve. For example, drawing an "Ohrwurm" (earworm) is very difficult, but "Ohr" (ear) and "Wurm" (worm) can be drawn fairly easily one at a time. If you split the word in this way, you should show the guessers which part you are presenting at the moment: when drawing, first divide the sheet of paper into two halves with a dividing line; when explaining, you can tell your fellow players; in pantomime, convey it with one or two fingers.
- You can shorten the length of the game by agreeing before the game to increase the points for a guessed term by 1 or 2.
- The game for three players is, experience shows, considerably shorter.
