Components
The expansion contains the following:
- 42 House cards (7 for each House)
- 6 "A Dance with Dragons" scenario setup cards (1 for each House)
- This rulebook
All cards in this expansion are marked with the "A Dance with Dragons" symbol. This makes them easy to tell apart from the components of the base game.
How to Play with the Expansion
This expansion includes a scenario for 6 players. The scenario reflects the balance of power and the events described in the books "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons". It uses the 42 new House cards and the 6 scenario setup cards.
House Cards
The House cards included in this expansion are compatible with both the "A Dance with Dragons" scenario and the base game. If you decide to use them, return all 42 House cards from the base game to the box and replace them with the cards from the expansion.
The "A Dance with Dragons" Scenario
This expansion includes 6 "A Dance with Dragons" scenario setup cards, one for each House from the base game. When setting up for this scenario, follow the instructions on the setup cards rather than those on the player screens. The scenario is for exactly 6 players.
Round Limit
The "A Dance with Dragons" scenario is played over six rounds. After the sixth round is complete, the player who occupies the highest space on the Victory track wins. Ties are resolved according to the base game rules.
In addition, a player wins immediately if areas with castles or strongholds under their control number 7.
Neutral Lord Tokens
When setting up for the "A Dance with Dragons" scenario, place the neutral lord tokens as described for the base game, for six players. Exception: do not place a neutral lord token in King's Landing.
Garrison Tokens
When setting up for the "A Dance with Dragons" scenario, place the neutral lord token with strength 4 in Stormsend and the neutral lord token with strength 3 in Oldtown. These tokens are considered garrison tokens belonging to House Baratheon and House Tyrell, respectively.
Note that Stormsend and Oldtown are not considered capital territories, despite the presence of garrison tokens on them. All other garrison rules apply.
