Spielmaterial
- 52 cow cards, showing six different cows
- 4 row cards
The six cows are: Africa – Zebu; Germany – Holstein cattle; India – Water buffalo; Japan – Wagyu cattle; North America – Bison; Scotland – Galloway cattle.
Game Idea
Other countries, other cows! Do you know the Scottish Galloway cattle? Or the North American bison? Have you ever seen an Indian water buffalo? In 6 nimmt! Junior you travel around the world and photograph all these cows and more. On your turn you add a cow card to a row. If all six different cows are then present in that row, you collect the cards of that row. Whoever has the most cards at the end wins.
Setup
- Place the four row cards one below the other in the middle of the table. Each one forms the start of a row.
- Shuffle the cow cards and place them face down as a draw pile to the left of the row cards.
Game Play
Whoever last photographed a cow is the starting player. You play clockwise. On your turn, turn over the top card of the draw pile. Place this card to the right of a row of your choice, following these rules:
Rule 1: Placing the card must add at least one new cow to the chosen row – that is, a cow that was not previously present in that row.
Rule 2: If all the cows depicted on the card are already present in the four rows, place the card in any row.
Example: Ole can place his Scottish cow at the first, third or fourth row. The Scottish cow is already present in the second row, so he may not place it there. Ole decides on the first row.
Taking a Row
If a row contains all six different cows, the row counts as "full." If the card you play completes a row, you take all the cow cards of that row and place them face down in front of you as a "photo album," in a stack. Whoever has collected the most cards at the end of the game wins!
Into the freed-up row you may now place new cow cards again.
Example: Bruno places his cow card in the second row and completes it. He collects all the cow cards of that row and places them in front of him as a "photo album."
End of Game
As soon as you have drawn and placed the last card from the draw pile, the game ends. Whoever has collected the most cow cards wins. If several of you have the most cow cards, there are several winners.
Variants
For Advanced Players (ages 6 and up)
The rules of the basic game apply with the following changes:
Setup
Deal three hand cards to each player before you place the shuffled cow cards down as the draw pile.
Game Play
Instead of turning over a card from the draw pile, you play any one of your three hand cards and place it at a row according to the known rules. Then draw a card from the draw pile and take it into your hand. This gives you three cards in hand again. When the draw pile is used up, you no longer draw a card.
End of Game
As soon as you have drawn the last card from the draw pile and played all hand cards, the game ends. Whoever has collected the most cow cards wins.
Note: You can also play this variant with more of a nuisance factor. In that case, whoever has collected the fewest cow cards wins. This brings you one step closer to the classic 6 nimmt!.
For Experts (ages 7 and up)
This variant differs considerably from the basic game.
Setup
Place the four row cards one below the other in the middle of the table. Shuffle the cow cards. Place one random cow card face up next to each row card, as the first card of each of the four rows.
Also deal three cow cards to each player as hand cards, and place the remaining cards as a face-down draw pile.
Game Play
You take turns clockwise. On your turn, play one hand card of your choice face up. Place this card at any row. The last card of the chosen row must show at least one cow that is also depicted on your played card. Both cards must therefore show the same cow.
Example: Swantje can place the Japanese cow only at the third row, because only there does the last card show a Japanese cow.
No matching card played?
If you cannot place your played card at any row in this way, choose any row. First collect all the cow cards of this row and place them face down in front of you. Then place your played card in the row that has just been freed up.
The sixth cow card in a row
If you place the sixth cow card in a row, you must collect all the cow cards of that row – except for your played card – and place them face down in front of you. Place your played card in the row that has just been freed up.
Always draw a card from the draw pile at the end of your turn and take it into your hand. When the draw pile is used up, you no longer draw a card.
End of Game
As soon as you have drawn the last card from the draw pile and played all hand cards, the game ends. Whoever has collected the fewest cow cards wins. If several of you have the fewest cards, there are several winners.
