Components
- Starting Player Card × 1
- Ranking Cards × 5
- Reference Cards × 4
- Member Cards × 50 (10 per band seat)
Setup
- Place the 5 Ranking Cards in the public area.
- Adjust the Member Cards by player count:
| Player | Remove | Cards per Player |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | All 9s, 10s | 13 |
| 4 | All 9s | 11 |
| 5 | — | 10 |
- Deal the cards evenly.
- For 3–4 players, remove the remaining excess card after dealing.
- The player with the Vocal (1) is the starting player and takes the Starting Player Card. If it is not in play, the player with the Vocal (2) becomes the starting player.
Game Play
Each round consists of 2 phases:
A. Band Audition
There are 5 band seats: Vocal, Guitar, Drum, Bass, and Keyboard. Starting from the starting player, players take turns in clockwise order, playing 1 Member Card from their hand in front of themselves to compete for the seats.
- Each seat retains only the highest-value member.
- When a new Member challenges an occupied seat, compare their values. The lower-value Member is removed. If tied, the new Member is removed.
- Dual-color Members challenge 2 seats simultaneously. Resolve each seat independently; the card may win 1 or 2 seats, or be removed.
- Players may still play lower-value Member Cards, but that card is immediately removed from the game.
The Audition ends immediately when a band is full, even if some players have taken fewer turns. Proceed to B. Performance Phase.
- Small Band: Vocal + Guitar + Drum + Bass
- Large Band: Vocal + Guitar + Drum + Bass + Keyboard
Example:
- Alice plays Vocal (3);
- Bob plays the Dual-color Member (4), replacing Vocal (3) and occupying the Guitar seat.
- Chris plays Drum (6);
- Alice plays Vocal (6). Bob's Dual-color Member (4) remains as Guitar.
- Bob plays Bass (1).
The band is full, and the game proceeds to the B. Performance Phase.
B. Performance Phase
During this phase, resolve the following steps in order:
- Claiming the Ranking Cards: Compare the Members in the band. The player with the lowest-value member takes '1st', followed by the next lowest. If tie, the player closer to the starting player (in clockwise order) takes priority.
- Update Starting Player: Pass the Starting Player Card to the left of the player who played the last Member Card.
- Place all Member Cards forming the band in the public area.
- Starting with the 1st Ranking Card player, players take turns selecting 1 member to their score area, and return their Ranking Card to the public area. After all Ranking Cards are resolved, start a new round with the new Starting Player.
Example (continuing from the previous example):
- Bob plays the 2 lowest-value Member Cards and takes the 1st and 2nd Ranking Cards. Alice takes the 3rd, Chris takes the 4th. Alice and Chris both played value 6, but Alice takes priority due to turn order.
- Bob played the last card, so the Starting Player Card passes to Chris.
- Place all Member Cards forming the band in the public area.
- Following Ranking Card order, players select member(s) for their score area: Bob (6, 4), Alice (6), Chris (1), then return their Ranking Cards.
Game End
The game ends when all cards are played. Remove any Member Cards in incomplete bands and begin scoring.
Players score as follows:
- Base score: Add up the values of the Member Cards in their player's score area.
- Band score: Small Band: +5 pts each; Large Band: +10 pts each.
- Large Bands do not also score as Small Bands.
The player with the highest score wins. If tied, players share the victory.
Example — Bob's score:
- Base score: 6 + 4 + 8 + 6 + 3 = 27 pts.
- Band score: 10 pts.
Total = 37 pts.
