Setup
Choose sheets A or B and give one to each player. Everyone shares one 6-sided die, as all players use the same die roll for each of their fences.
Gameplay
- Roll the die and cross off the top-most empty box on the wolf tracker (wolf icon). Once you are down to the last four boxes, if you rolled a number equal to or higher than what is shown in the box, the game ends immediately.
- Draw one fence matching the die roll (shown at bottom of player sheet) completely on your field. Fences may be rotated, but not flipped. Nor can they be drawn over bushes or other fences.
End of Game Scoring
Once the game ends (see #1), count the number of sheep in each completely enclosed area and add those area scores (star) together.
| Sheep in area | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Star score | 1 | 3 | 5 | 8 | 12 | 16 |
If there's a tie, the player with the largest enclosed area wins.
Components
Each player sheet (Sheet A or Sheet B) is a printable field that includes:
- A grid of dots forming the field, with sheep and bushes pre-printed at fixed positions (Sheet A and Sheet B use different sheep/bush arrangements). Bushes act as permanent obstacles: fences cannot be drawn over them.
- A wolf tracker: a column of ten boxes down the right edge of the field. Players cross off the top-most empty box on each die roll. The first six boxes are blank; the last four are printed with a die-face showing 6, 5, 4 and 1 pips in that order — once the tracker reaches one of these last four boxes, rolling that number or higher ends the game immediately (the final box, showing a single pip, guarantees the game ends on the next roll).
- A fence-die key printed along the bottom of the sheet: six fixed fence shapes, one for each die face (1 through 6). When a player rolls a given number, they draw the matching fence shape from the key onto their field. Shapes may be rotated in place but not mirrored/flipped.
- An area-scoring table (sheep count 1-6 mapped to star score 1, 3, 5, 8, 12, 16) printed on the sheet for reference during scoring.
Each player needs their own copy of the sheet (all players use the same sheet variant, A or B, in a given game) plus access to one shared 6-sided die.
