The rulebook says the owner of a Trading House receives 1 Yen.

Yes — each time another player carries out an action there, the Trading House owner takes 1 Yen from the bank, including when that player uses a Foreign Mercenary. A Shophouse earns nothing, and your own Trading House pays you nothing when you act.
