Is the Kiln placed on Nyr at setup, and can you slingshot it?
Yes in standard play: Nyr is revealed in setup so the Kiln goes there ("when discovered" covers alternate starts). Docking is not an action — the actions are selling Ember or sifting — and moving in and out of the Kiln to reposition around Nyr is allowed.
