Wingspan Asia
Can I take a Duet food space if I played the bird without paying its food, for example via a power?
The publisher ruled on this directly, and the rulebook's 2-for-1 note matches.

No for the food space, yes for the others. If a power let you skip the bird's food cost, you cannot take a food space for that food, but you can still take a space matching the bird's nest, wingspan or beak direction. The 2-for-1 food swap is the exception: it counts as the food you needed.
