Are rewards mandatory when I defeat an enemy?
The publisher said rewards are mandatory in 2020 and 2022.

Yes — if you defeat or evade an enemy you must take its reward, even an unwanted Draw 3. Plan which enemies to defeat. The only exception is a reward for a token type the supply has run out of.
