When can I attack a Protected mothership like The Dread?
The publisher called this the official ruling for all Protected ships, and it is on the dashboards and rulebook.

Only after every enemy from the enemy deck and the row has been defeated during the current warp. Before then it neither attacks nor can be attacked. Cards are only reshuffled at warp end, so you must clear the full deck within one warp.
