Whenever an explorer leaves a node, by any means. The designer says the card says 'leave' deliberately to cover every kind of departure, including LUNA's tractor beam; players apply this to node-swaps and teleporting effects too. Players also note no cloud is placed on a node holding a tiny tentacle.
