Is the Scarab a node, and can I scan or investigate it?
The designer answered this directly on BoardGameGeek, and it matches the rulebook.

Only for effects that mention adjacent nodes, or explorers on adjacent nodes. The designer confirmed the Scarab is not otherwise a node and promised to clarify the appendix. It is adjacent to the nodes on its four sides and can't be investigated or scanned, so LUNA can't scan there either.
