In the Events step, can I play an event card and also use a park card's event ability on the same turn?
No. Each event turn is used for one event: an Event card, or a Park card or staff ability marked for the Events step, which counts as an event. Using such an ability takes the place of playing an event card on that turn. A blocking card is a reaction played immediately and does not use your turn.
