How is the first starting player chosen in Tzolk'in?

The rulebook gives the Starting Player Marker to whoever most recently sacrificed something, and a tied group lets the next volunteer for a sacrifice take it. Since sacrifice isn't defined further, any random method (die roll, draw) is a fine stand-in. The marker never rotates afterwards; it only moves via the Starting Player Space.
