There are 4 Food Days per game. The first round is not a Food Day even though the starting tooth is one, and the gear does not turn before round one, so the 26-tooth gear gives 27 rounds unless a double advance shortens it. Food Days alternate between the middle-of-age resource kind (brown-orange) and the end-of-age victory-point kind (blue-green).
