Shock exhausts dice in your Skills Area, which includes Nightshade's skill die while she is not deployed, since it is one of Duster's skills. It can't touch Counters, dice in the Prep Area such as Stanza's Luitar, or Locked Slot dice such as Gasket's canisters. A Baddie's Shock doesn't affect Nightshade herself, as she has no Skills Area.
