When I pay and place a Workshop tile face up, do I get its benefit immediately?
The rulebook says the player immediately gains the benefit shown on a paid, face-up tile.

Yes. Placing it face up gives you the benefit shown on the tile (or the resources of the die's space for die tiles) straight away, and again each time you move that colour. That benefit can't be used to pay for the tile itself.
