Can I move through a cave space once its tokens are gone?

No. Caves are mountain spaces and stay impassable even when emptied, so pieces only move beside them. The exceptions are effects that name empty mountains, such as the Heroes & Hexes Geologist or Gertrude, which may step onto a cave space with no tokens left.
