What is the difference between the Uncover and Survey delve objectives when retreating?

Both need 3 skyshards. Uncover lets you choose when to retreat, and skyshard XP is still gained if you retreat early. Survey retreats automatically at the end of the round you collect the third skyshard, and retreating early loses the encounter reward.
