If my first power-up makes a worker ascend, can the second power-up go to the new worker or the same worker?
The designer addressed both situations in separate threads.

Not to either on a Main action. The ascending worker is resolved immediately and the reborn die starts on the Palace, not the board you acted on, so it is not eligible; powering the same worker again is impossible. A Discovery tile that powers up two unlocked workers is different: you can power one up, let it ascend, then power up the new die.
