With one worker on Alchemy at power 4 or 5, can I take from the bottom row and still power up?
This is the rulebook's Alchemy exception.

You may take from the bottom row, but then you forfeit the power-up from the action. A power 1 to 3 single worker must take from the top row and powers up normally; with two or more workers you can choose either row and still power up.
