What happens when I must pay or lose something and have none, such as Energy, Health or Reputation?
Pay needs the full amount, and you cannot trigger the effect without it. Lose is a penalty you take as far as you can: with none to lose, the effect still happens and nothing is lost. So you can Escape at 0 Energy, because Escape makes you lose 1 Energy rather than pay it.
