Can I trade with another hero in the middle of a battle or quest?
Players disagree and there is no official ruling on mid-action trades.

Treat it as no. A battle's Advantages are worked out when it begins, so any trade that helps you should happen before you start. The rules limit a trade to once per turn and one action cannot interrupt another. A few players read the rules as allowing it, but the stricter reading is better supported.
