What batteries does the Tower need, and can I use rechargeables or swap them mid-game?
The designer confirmed the battery type, rechargeables and mid-game swaps in several replies.

Three AA batteries, and rechargeable AA cells are fine. You can swap them mid-game: switch the Tower off, keep it as upright as possible so skulls don't shift, replace the cells, and turn it back on. It reconnects with the game exactly as it was.
