The skulls are removed from the game, and one corruption is gained for the whole event, not per skull. In a kingdom that belongs to a hero it goes to that kingdom's hero. In a dormant kingdom it goes to the player whose turn it is (who dropped the skull). Skulls that must go onto a destroyed building named by an event also cost the player resolving that event a corruption.
