Can I use a potion or other item before my Banner action?
The designer said items can be used any time during your turn and the rulebook agrees.

Yes. The designer says you can use items, including potions, at any time during your own turn, and the Banner action is part of your turn. The rulebook also lets you resolve start-of-turn effects and the Banner action in any order.
