What happens to the skulls when a fourth skull destroys a building?

The building and all four skulls, including the one that just arrived, are removed from the game. The first printing returned the fourth skull to the supply, and old forum examples still show that. The designer later added that a single effect delivering a fourth skull or more destroys the building and removes every skull it would have placed.
