Can I take the Cleanse action in a space with no skulls?
The designer said you can only cleanse where there are skulls, and the rulebook agrees.

No. Cleanse only removes skulls from a building on your space, so you need a skull there. The exception is an ability that lets you cleanse remotely, such as the Lamp of Hope.
