Can foe-removal effects like potions, treasures or lamps remove the adversary?
The rulebook says the adversary cannot be removed without battle.

No. The adversary can never be removed by an effect, and the treasure that defeats a foe for spirit cannot hit it. It can only be beaten in battle (or left by retreating). Potions that move foes can move it.
