How does Life loss work when you do not have enough Life?

Lose the Life you have, and for each missing Life lose any 2 other essences from your pool instead (Gold included), if you can. You cannot choose to lose 2 other essences in place of Life you do have; Life goes first. If you have only 1 other essence for a 2-essence penalty, lose that one.
